MIS and MEL Experience The OMNI Tool (Outcome Modeling for Nutrition Impact) MODIFICATION(July 2019 – current) Microsoft excel SharePoint based OMNI Tool (Outcome Modeling for Nutrition Impact) was developed to estimate nutrition and non-health impacts due to nutrition interventions, and empower decision-makers to maximize future program impact as a result of specific program investment(s). Built by Nutrition International and validated by leading external public health experts, the OMNI Tool combines the latest evidence with your custom program coverage data to compute impact. The OMNI Tool is now being shared with the global community to enable nutrition program planning, reporting, and advocacy. MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM PLAN CANADA- ETHIOPIA & PERU (June 2019 – current) As lead consultant developing a smart phone based Management Information System for My Choice My Life project. My Choice for My Life is a five year initiative that is being carried out by Plan International Ethiopia and Plan International Canada in partnership with GAC. The initiative aims to support the intersecting areas of GE, ASRHR and CP in Ethiopia by contributing to the reduction of CEFM and improvement of SRH outcomes for adolescent girls and boys in targeted regions of Amhara and SNNP in Ethiopia. M&E SYSTEM AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK (December 2018 – February 2019) With ten-member team, spearheaded data collection tool development and monitoring and evaluation system for African Development Bank Group headquarter nutrition project operating in Africa region. Revised indicators, refined and finalized an M&E strategy, crafted M&E work-plan and designed data collection tools, improving efficiencies in data entry, quality control, accessibility and learning. Assignments are still ongoing to develop M&E system including a Result Based Reporting System and Dashboard. MEL EDUCATION PROJECT SYSTEM ASSESSMENT AND DESIGN – INDONESIA (Nov 2015 – Jan 2016) Leading MEL assessment and design for Humber College (4.6 Million) “Sulawesi Economic Development Strategy Project (SEDS)”, a five-year partnership project working with seven universities in Indonesia. Designing system to assess educational achievements, curriculum design, student services and the fostering of networks. MEL TRAINING, ASSESSMENT AND ADVICE – AGA KHAN FOUNDATION (Sep – Nov 2015) Led training program for Aga Khan Foundation of Canada on Logic Models and Advanced Performance Measurement Frameworks. Provided hands-on support and advice on refining indicators, tools, data collection methodologies and storage systems. MEL ADVICE AND SUPPORT – WUSC & CANADIAN FEED THE CHILDREN (Oct– Nov 2015) Advised World University Services of Canada (WUSC) on MEL system design, implementation and tool development for a large-scale (20 Million) program in the Caribbean and Canadian Feed the Children (CFTC) on MEL system design, implementation and tool development for two projects in Ghana and Ethiopia. MEL APPLIED RESEARCH PARTNERSHIP – YORK UNIVERSITY (September 2014 – September 2015) Initiated and supported an applied research partnership between the Canadian Hunger Foundation and York University’s Schulich School of Business. Coordinated efforts for data collection from two development projects in Ghana and Ethiopia and collaborated with qualified researches for assessing entrepreneurship and management in income generation groups for learning and research dissemination. ADVISER FOR AGRICULTURAL MARKET INFORMATION SYSTEM – ETHIOPIA (July – Nov 2015) Provided advice and strategic support to Ethiopian data design team to create an integrated agricultural market information system in collaboration with NGOs and the Ethiopian government. The system gathers and disseminates up-to-date and reliable agricultural market information for producers, their groups, cooperatives, unions, traders, consumers and other stockholders via Interactive Voice Response (IVR), Short Message Service (SMS), and Website. MEL SYSTEM DESIGN FOR MULTI-COUNTRY PROGRAM – CARIBBEAN (June 2015) Led M&E system design for DFATD-funded ($20 Million) “Promotion of Regional Opportunities for Produce through Enterprises and Linkages Program”, operating in eight countries in the Caribbean. Designed data collection tools and comprehensive MEL manual, developed integrated cloud-based database system and trained international staff team from across the Caribbean. BASELINE STUDY FOR MULTI-COUNTRY PROGRAM – CARIBBEAN (March 2015) Led baseline study for DFATD-funded ($20 Million) “Promotion of Regional Opportunities for Produce through Enterprises and Linkages Program.” Coordinated data collection plan, designed four surveys for youth and female/male farmers and high-value market buyers. Trained and supervised international staff in data collection and inputting, quality control and privacy and confidentiality of data. Analyzed data and wrote succinct baseline report. END-OF-PROJECT EVALUATION AND LESSONS LEARNED – ETHIOPIA (January 2015) Co-designed and facilitated multi-country program evaluation and lessons learned study for ($6.7 Million) “Partnership for Food and Economic Security Program” (Phase I and II). Led review of key project results and lessons with partner organizations from Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Cambodia. Facilitated review of M&E system. RESULTS BASED MANAGEMENT (RBM) AND MEL TRAINING – BARBADOS (Sept-Oct 2014) Led five-day RBM and MEL training for 15 staff from Barbados, St. Lucia, Dominica, Jamaica and Guyana. Provided post-workshop hands-on advice on project documentation, project guideline development and created management tools to streamline activity planning and oversight. END-OF-PROJECT EVALUATION ON CLIMATE CHANGE – ETHIOPIA (Feb 2014) Led End-of-Project Evaluation and lessons learned for DFATD-funded ($2.3 Million) “Bati Adapts to Climate Change Impacts Project.” Designed data collection tools, analyzed and interpreted results from 400 household farmer surveys and wrote detailed report. Findings were presented at stakeholder-wide Climate Change Forum. BASELINE STUDY & SYSTEM DESIGN FOR FOOD SECURITY PROJECT – GHANA (Nov 2013) Led baseline study and MEL system design for DFATD-funded ($19 Million) “Resilient and Sustainable Livelihoods Transformation Project” in Northern Ghana. Created household questionnaire and focus group discussion guide, established project monitoring tools, oversaw staff training and wrote Management Information System manual and baseline report. Designed multi-user, user-friendly, cloud-based data management system with automated reporting MEL SYSTEM DESIGN FOR MARKET-LED PROJECT – ETHIOPIA  (Oct 2013) Established MEL system for DFATD-funded ($7.5 Million) “Market-led Improved Livelihoods in Eastern Amhara Region Project” with three-member team. Designed cloud-based MEL system linked to tablets and cell phones. Created data collection tools, database interfaces, automatic reporting sections, comprehensive MEL guidelines and manuals and trained staff. DATABASE DESIGN & MEL TOOLS DEVELOPMENT – ETHIOPIA (April – August 2013) Contracted by Save the Children Canada to advise on MEL system design for ($19.8 Million) “Benishangul Gumuz Food Security and Economic Growth Project” – an initiative co-implemented by a consortium of seven NGOs. Assessed MEL strategy, restructured PMF, created monitoring tools and designed multi-user database system. BASELINE STUDY ON CLIMATE CHANGE PROJECT – ETHIOPIA (Feb 2013) Led Baseline study for DFATD-funded ($2.3 Million) “Bati Adapts to Climate Change Impacts Project”. Designed and piloted data collection tools, trained 25 staff, defined clusters and sample sizes, created oversight and quality control mechanisms and analyzed and spearheaded detailed baseline report. EVALUATION AND LESSONS LEARNED STUDY – BANGLADESH (Feb & April 2011) Directed four-week project evaluation and lessons learned study for ($5 Million) “Sustainable Livelihoods for Ultra Poor Project.” Designed research methodology and 10 survey tools (including qualitative drawing exercises) and led team of over 60 staff to conduct in-field interviews. Analyzed over 150 questionnaires and wrote final report. ORGANIZATIONAL EVALUATION AND M&E ASSESSMENT – BANGLADESH (March-April 2010) Co-led assessment of the Institute for Integrated Rural Development (IIRD), assessing leadership, programming and monitoring systems. Assessed use and application of Geographic Information Systems and Management Information Systems, analyzed results and wrote detailed report. refining indicators, tools, data collection methodologies and storage systems.
